The Tigard dojo was named the Takushinkan dojo, meaning “Frontier dojo”, by Tohei sensei, whose calligraphy adorns this sign.

  • President's day weekend

    Sunday February 19th – Monday February 20th at all dojos

    No classes over on holiday Sunday or Monday.

March, 2012

  • Taigi Shinsakai

    Saturday March 17th at the Tigard dojo

    The children's competition will be in the morning, with the adults in the afternoon. Viewing is open to the public.

April, 2012

  • Randori class

    Sunday April 1st, 9:30, at the Tigard dojo

    The usual advanced aikido class will cover randori. All students brown belt and up are encouraged to attend.

  • Easter

    Sunday April 8th at all dojos

    No classes because of the holiday.

  • Spring camp

    Saturday April 14th – Sunday April 15th, 9:00 am on Saturday, 7:30 am on Sunday, at the Tigard dojo

    One of two annual opportunities to train Aikido intensively, Spring camp is open to all current students.

May, 2012

  • Board test

    Sunday May 6th, following morning Ki class at noon, at the Tigard dojo

    Testing for brown and black belts

  • Mother's day

    Sunday May 13th at all dojos

    No classes because of the holiday.

  • Memorial day weekend

    Saturday May 26th – Sunday May 27th at all dojos

    No classes on Sunday or Monday because of the holiday.

June, 2012

  • Kids' camp

    Saturday June 9th – Sunday June 10th at the Tigard dojo

    The annual kids' camp is this weekend, featuring lots of training and activities for members of the children's program.

July, 2012

  • Fourth of July weekend

    Sunday July 1st – Tuesday July 3rd at all dojos

    No classes because of the holiday.

September, 2012

  • Maui Keio University Anniversary Workshop

    Saturday September 1st at all dojos

    Shinichi Tohei sensei will teach a workshop in Maui to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Aikido teaching in Hawaii. Exact date TBD.

  • Labor day weekend

    Sunday September 2nd – Monday September 3rd at all dojos

    No classes because of the holiday.

  • Randori class

    Sunday September 23rd, 9:30, at the Tigard dojo

    The usual advanced aikido class will cover randori. All students brown belt and up are encouraged to attend.

November, 2012

  • Aikido instructors' workshop

    Friday November 2nd – Sunday November 4th at the Tigard dojo

    The workshop will focus on teaching skills for aikido instructors currently teaching a class, with feedback from Tabata sensei. Details TBA.

  • Fall camp

    Saturday November 17th – Sunday November 18th, 9:00 am on Saturday, 7:30 am on Sunday, at the Tigard dojo

    One of two annual opportunities to train Aikido intensively, Fall camp is open to all current students.

  • Thanksgiving

    Thursday November 22nd – Friday November 23rd at all dojos

    No classes over the holiday weekend.

  • Thanksgiving weekend

    Sunday November 25th at all dojos

    No classes on Thanksgiving Sunday.

December, 2012

  • Management conference

    Sunday December 2nd, 9:00 am, at the Tigard dojo

    All instructors are invited to attend the annual management conference.

  • Last day of classes

    Monday December 17th, until the new year, at all dojos

    No classes will be held over the holiday break.

January, 2013

  • Classes resume

    Wednesday January 2nd at all dojos

    With the new year comes new training.

  • Misogi

    Sunday January 6th, arrive by 8:30 am, misogi starts at 9:00 am, at the Tigard dojo

    Our annual opportunity to ring in the new year. Open to all current students. Annual new year's party to follow at 11:30.
