Monday Kiatsu class 7:00–9:30 pm
Tuesday Kiatsu class 6:30–9:00 pm

Periodically there are 4-week introductory courses held on Wednesday evenings. Please check our calendar for details.

Instructors

  • Calvin Tabata Sensei, Chief Instructor of Personal Kiatsu School, Kiatsu Lecturer, Chief Instructor of the Northwest Ki Federation, Ki Lecturer, Okuden, Shinshin Toitsu Aikido 8th Dan, teaching in the Northwest since 1970. Tabata Sensei has learned Ki Principles and Kiatsu directly from Founder Koichi Tohei his entire life including training in the Kiatsu Clinic and School at Ki Society HQ in Japan. In cooperation with Koichi Tohei Sensei, he established the Personal Kiatsu School in 1993.
  • Terry Copperman, Director of the Personal Kiatsu School, Kiatsu Associate Lecturer, Ki Lecturer, OKS Senior Advisor, Joden, Shinshin Toitsu Aikido 5th Dan, teaching for over 25 years. Copperman Sensei has learned Kiatsu directly from Koichi Tohei Sensei at several private seminars, in addition to decades long Kiatsu training with Tabata Sensei.
  • Brenda Tam, Kiatsu Associate Lecturer, Chief Instructor of Oregon Ki Society Childrens Program, Ki Lecturer, OKS Senior Advisor, Joden, Shinshin Toitsu Aikido 7th Dan, teaching for over 30 years.
  • Louis Sloss, Kiatsu Associate Lecturer, Chief Instructor of Adult Programs, Ki Lecturer, OKS Secretary, Okuden, Shinshin Toitsu Aikido 7th Dan, teaching for over 30 years.

May, 2013

  • Memorial day weekend

    Sunday May 26th – Monday May 27th at all dojos

    No classes on Sunday or Monday because of the holiday.

June, 2013

  • Kids' camp

    Saturday June 8th – Sunday June 9th at the Tigard dojo

    The annual kids' camp is this weekend, featuring lots of training and activities for members of the children's program.

July, 2013

  • Fourth of July weekend

    Thursday July 4th – Saturday July 6th at all dojos

    No classes because of the holiday.

August, 2013

  • Honolulu Dojo 60th Anniversary training trip

    Thursday August 1st – Sunday August 4th at all dojos

    Travel to Honolulu to train with Shinichi Tohei Sensei and our Hawaiian colleagues. Contact your dojo for more information.

September, 2013

  • Labor day weekend

    Sunday September 1st – Monday September 2nd at all dojos

    No classes because of the holiday.

  • Kiatsu seminar #3

    Saturday September 7th – Sunday September 8th, starts at 9:00 am both days, at the Personal Kiatsu School in Tigard

    Seminar #3 is open to all current Kiatsu students and graduates. Advanced Ki-Aikido students and instructors (brown and black belts) are invited to attend the Sunday session.

  • Randori class

    Sunday September 22nd, 9:30, at the Tigard dojo

    The usual advanced aikido class will cover randori. All students brown belt and up are encouraged to attend.

October, 2013

  • Kiatsu seminar #4

    Saturday October 19th – Sunday October 20th, starts at 9:00 am both days, at the Personal Kiatsu School in Tigard

    Seminar #4 is open to all current Kiatsu students and graduates. Advanced Ki-Aikido students and instructors (brown and black belts) are invited to attend the Sunday session.

  • World camp

    Wednesday October 23rd – Sunday October 27th at all dojos

    Train at Ki Society Headquarters in Japan at this intensive camp.

November, 2013

  • Aikido instructors' workshop

    Saturday November 2nd – Sunday November 3rd at the Tigard dojo

    The workshop will focus on teaching skills for aikido instructors currently teaching a class, with feedback from Tabata sensei. Details TBA.

  • Fall camp

    Saturday November 23rd – Sunday November 24th, 9:00 am on Saturday, 7:30 am on Sunday, at the Tigard dojo

    One of two annual opportunities to train Aikido intensively, Fall camp is open to all current students.

  • Thanksgiving

    Thursday November 28th – Friday November 29th at all dojos

    No classes over the holiday weekend.

December, 2013

  • Thanksgiving weekend

    Sunday December 1st at all dojos

    No classes on Thanksgiving Sunday.

  • Management conference

    Sunday December 8th, 9:00 am, at the Tigard dojo

    All instructors are invited to attend the annual management conference.

  • Last day of classes

    Thursday December 19th, until the new year, at all dojos

    No classes will be held over the holiday break.

January, 2014

  • Classes resume

    Thursday January 2nd at all dojos

    With the new year comes new training.

  • Misogi

    Sunday January 5th, arrive by 8:30 am, misogi starts at 9:00 am, at the Tigard dojo

    Our annual opportunity to ring in the new year. Open to all current students. Annual new year's party to follow at 11:30.
